چکیده
Incidence of anxiety-like disorders in humans has been shown to decrease with aging; however, it is still under debate whether there are similarities mice, which would support the use mouse models understanding neuronal network changes that regulate behavior aging. One most common tests used assess laboratory animals elevated plus maze (EPM). Although several variables, such as room brightness and width arms, have influence spontaneous animal during EPM test, none these variables ever evaluated aging understand their possible differential effect on younger older mice. We therefore decided investigate apparatus construction young adult old mice both sexes test performance. Our results show distance traveled variable affected by characteristics independent age sex. also found was key demonstrating spent more time had relatively entries open arms compared suggesting a age. Taken together, our data demonstrate dramatically affect outcome wider arm being effective revealing age-dependent behavior, thus, when conducting studies

Modulation of Anxiety-Like Behavior in Sildenafil Citrate-Treated Mice Placed in an Elevated Plus-Maze
Introduction: Sildenafil, a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor, may have various effects on the central nervous system via the nitric oxide (NO)-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) pathway. Preclinical studies have shown the controversial effect of sildenafil on anxiety-like behavior in animals. This study was undertaken to investigate the acute effect of sildenafil on anxiety-like behavior...

Based on the extensive application of Peganum harmala (P.h) seeds in the Asian traditional medicine, we tried to investigate its possible anxiety effect. Method: The effect of P.h. extract inhalation was evaluated in adult male rats using elevated plus-maze apparatus. The humidity of prepared ethanol extract was 37%. Animals in different groups (n=6) received 2, 4, 6, 12 or 18 gr/ml doses of...

متن کاملStudy the Effect of Endocannabinoid System on Rat Behavior in Elevated Plus-Maze
Introduction: Previous studies have shown that cannabinoidergic system is involved in anxiety. However, there are controversial reports in the experimental studies. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of pharmacological stimulation or blocking of CB1 receptors and inhibition of endocannabinoid degradation in anxiety like behavior in elevated plus-maze (EPM) test in rat. The EPM is o...
